Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas ? What are your thoughts on eggnog ? Is it a yes or a nay ?

Despite the recent spike in coronavirus infections, it looks that this year's Christmas season is bringing more joy and excitement to Canadians than previous year's.

According to a recent annual Research Co. study, which asked 1,000 Canadians how they feel about the holiday season, 49% of Canadians expect the holiday season to be "more enjoyable than stressful," up 19 percentage points from a survey performed in 2020. 24 percent indicated they're waiting to see how the season plays out.

And, now that the country is less in lockdown than it was this time last year, how are individuals communicating their best wishes to relatives and neighbors? The majority of Canadians prefer the greeting "Merry Christmas," with "Happy Holidays" being the most popular among those aged 18 to 34.

Family (78%) was ranked first, followed by friends (54%), Canada (44%), their work (29%), religion (22%), and affluence (22%) on the list of things to be grateful for (11 percent).

When it comes to holiday pleasures, 84 percent indicated they'll be serving turkey as the main course, with cranberry sauce (64 percent), Brussel sprouts (62 percent), fruit cake (56 percent), and mince pies rounding out the list (50 percent).

Egg nog, on the other hand, appears to be the most divisive topic of the season, with approximately half of those polled believing it's a tasty drink. Men said they enjoy it 60% of the time, while women said they like it 48% of the time.
