Kevin Porter Jr. of the Houston Rockets receives an apology from a Washington Wizards broadcaster for his remark.

WASHINGTON, DC – Glenn Consor, a Washington Wizards announcer, apologized on Thursday for making a joke about Houston star Kevin Porter Jr.'s father during Wednesday night's broadcast.

With 0.4 seconds left, Porter hit a 3-pointer to upset the Wizards 114-111. According to Conor: "You have to give credit where credit is due. Kevin Porter Jr., like his father, drew the trigger at precisely the correct moment."

Porter's father is said to have pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 1993 shooting murder of a youngster. Porter was wrongly identified as the son of former Washington player Kevin Porter, according to Consor.

"Please allow me to take this time to express my heartfelt regret to Kevin Porter Jr., his family, and the Rockets organization for the remarks I made during last night's game," Connor said on Twitter.

Connor said he had personally apologized to Porter and planned to speak with him shortly. Conor's apology was echoed by NBC Sports Washington.

On Twitter, a video of Consor's call was shared, and LeBron James retweeted it, expressing his disgust.

To reporters on Thursday, James elaborated on his post, suggesting that it was improbable that Consor would confuse Porter for his father, a former Washington star.

"We're in a profession where it's your responsibility to do your homework," James explained. "We've got enough folks out here that are fabricating stories and making bogus claims. That was plenty for us. But it's our duty to make sure we do the best we can to express the facts in our game, in our integrity, in the NBA, with the 30 teams, the beat reporters, the players, the coaches, and the play-by-play person."
