Robert Durst, a New York real estate heir who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his closest friend, has passed away. He was 78 years old at the time.
In September, Durst was found guilty of the murder of Susan Berman in 2000.
Two days after his sentencing, he was admitted to the hospital with COVID-19. Durst died in a state prison healthcare facility in Stockton, according to his lawyer.
Chip Lewis, his attorney, stated that he died of natural causes owing to a variety of health conditions.
Durst was also suspected of murdering his wife, who went missing in 1982.
In 2003, he was found not guilty of the killing of a Texas man.
