THEY SHOULD CHANGE THE NAME TO "The Book of Star Wars Cameos." We got cameos from many of our favorite characters last seen in The Mandalorian Season 2 in yet another fantastic episode of Book of Boba Fett that barely featured the titular bounty hunter. However, Episode 6 saved the best for last with a shocking revelation from the Clone Wars era that could have major implications for Season 3 of The Mandalorian.
WHO IS CAD BANE IN STAR WARS?
Cad Bane is a violent bounty hunter who now works for the Pyke Syndicate. He first appeared in the anime series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Bane became perhaps the most successful bounty hunter in the galaxy after Jango Fett was decapitated in Attack of the Clones, and soon rose to prominence during the Clone Wars and the turmoil that followed.
Bane was also known for fighting with Jedi and dueled with both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker at one point or another. As a result, he was hired by Darth Sidious (aka, Sheev Palpatine) to steal a cyber memory crystal from the Jedi Temple containing a list of Force-sensitive kids. Near the end of the Clone Wars, he also worked for Jabba the Hutt and allied with Count Dooku in a plot to kidnap Palpatine, which was foiled by Obi-Wan in disguise.
He was recruited to capture Omega (a special Jango clone from The Bad Batch) during the Galactic Empire's reign but was prevented by Fennec Shand. He also met a teenage Boba Fett and assisted him in his training as a bounty hunter.
Cad Bane's cowboy hat may have caught your eye. He had a thing for wide-brimmed hats and had even slain at least one other bounty hunter in order to get his hands on one. Bane is an excellent marksman with win blasters. In addition, he wields jet boots, a flamethrower, and a whipcord thrower similar to Din Djarin's. Cad is a skilled strategist as well, capable of directing large parties into combat – something that will come in useful during the next conflict between Team Boba and Team Pyke.
CAD BANE AND THE MANDALORIAN SEASON 3
Mando will need a new foe to face in The Mandalorian Season 3 unless Moff Gideon escapes from New Republic jail. Cad Bane seemed to be the most logical choice.
As long as the blue-skinned bounty hunter survives the Boba Fett finale, he'll make an excellent enemy in the Mandalorian's next season. (The fact that Mando's friend Cobb Vanth was presumably murdered by Bane doesn't help either.)
Is Cad Bane going to show up again? We certainly hope so. But first, this great marksman must survive his rendezvous with Boba Fett, the galaxy's top bounty hunter.
