On Sunday night, Jennifer Hudson made history.
The "Respect" star has become a member of the exclusive EGOT club. An EGOT is a performer who has received Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tony Awards over their career.
Hudson had previously won an Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar, and she added a Tony to her collection on Sunday for her work as a co-producer on the Tony-winning musical "A Strange Loop."
Hudson joked to People magazine in 2020 about his plans to join the elite group of fewer than 20 people who had achieved such a feat.
"After that, I acquired a dog and called it Oscar, and I won my Oscar. Then I bought a puppy, which I called Grammy, and I won my Grammy "she stated, "So I'm thinking of getting some dogs and naming them Emmy and Tony — it'll bring me good luck and help me win [They're] like my good luck charms."
Hudson received an Oscar for her performance in "Dreamgirls" in 2007, two Grammys (best R&B album in 2009 and best musical theatre album for "The Color Purple" in 2017), and a Daytime Emmy last year for the animated short "Baba Yag," which she voiced and co-produced.
There are presently 17 people who have won the EGOT.
