Samuel Quinton Edwards, who was the subject of a manhunt after a police officer was wounded, was killed in Louisville, Kentucky, according to officials, after exchanging gunfire with Kentucky State Police.
Edwards, 34, was sought after he was allegedly involved in a pursuit in Madison on Monday night and shot a Hendersonville police officer. The Metro Nashville Police Department reports that the officer was just slightly injured.
Just before 8 o'clock on Tuesday, MNPD notified that Edwards had passed away.

Truck found in Millersville as search unfolded
Information on Edwards and the truck, including its license plate number, was extensively disseminated by officials. The truck was eventually discovered on Cycle Lane off Bethel Road on Tuesday morning, according to the Millersville Police Department.
A graphic from the Tennessee Department of Transportation shows that just before 11 a.m., police action forced the closure of the southbound lanes of Interstate 65 near Bethel Road. The vehicle was located close to the cutoff.
A TDOT representative acknowledged that the closure was related to a "wanted suspect" in the region. Later in the day, the highway was completely reopened.
Tuesday morning, while the search for Edwards went on, TBI issued a "blue alert," stating that he was sought for attempted criminal murder and escaping arrest by both MNPD and TBI.
Twitter and Tennessee Department of Transportation signage displayed messages in response to the TBI notice. Around 4 p.m., a text message warning was sent out.

Records: Edwards shot an officer while out on bond
Following a prior shooting incident on June 14, records revealed that Edwards, who was out on bail, was facing more than a dozen charges in Putnam County. He and Erica Lynn, 31, are charged with opening fire on Cookeville's Interstate 40.
According to authorities, the Tennessee Highway Patrol started looking into the incident after receiving complaints from drivers who said bullets were fired from a blue Chevy Suburban into another car that was heading on I-40 west.
The car failed to stop during stationary surveillance around the 291-mile marker on I-40 westbound, so THP Trooper Doug Foster started a chase onto State Route 70 west.
Lynn was ejected onto SR 70 when Edwards lost control of the car and hit a telephone pole in less than two miles, according to THP. He ran away from the scene on foot but was immediately caught.
They were arrested on various felony gun and drug counts after authorities discovered firearms and meth in their possession. Both have criminal records. Edwards and Lynn were sent to a local hospital to receive medical attention for their wounds.
Edwards was due to show up in Putnam County General Sessions Court on July 20 but was freed on June 21 after posting a $79,800 bail. Due to the criminal histories of both individuals, THP detectives turned the case over to the FBI.
