The gremlins seem to have started at 9:30 p.m., and the issues are still present. Although some reports imply that Android phone owners may be experiencing greater hardship than iPhone owners, it is unclear exactly who is affected. Videos released online depict individuals starting the program while carrying out various tasks before it crashes virtually instantly.
The interactive graphic on Down Detector's website, which tracks outages throughout the world, now shows a continuous rise in complaints of about 17,00 each minute. A user by the name of Emily wrote on the forum page: "The app merely lights up for a second and then throws me off." Can someone confirm that Instagram on Android doesn't load at all? asked another user named Ak.
In addition to those reports on Downdetector, Instagram users have flocked to Twitter to express their annoyance. Simeon, an Instagram user, tweeted the following: "Why is Instagram crashing so frequently? Is this a problem for anybody else?" Is it just me, or does Instagram crash every time you attempt to start the app too? another user tweeted.
Although rumors are already dwindling, there is no news from Instagram on when everything will be back up. Hopefully, things will return to normal shortly.
