In a late-night drive-through chapel in Las Vegas, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were married on Saturday, capping a relationship that lasted for two decades, including two different romances, and made several tabloid covers.
The couple's marriage was revealed by Lopez on Sunday in her fan email under the title "We did it." Lopez first announced their engagement in the same newsletter, "On the J Lo," in April.
"Love is lovely. Love is nice. Love, it turns out, is a patient thing. 20 years of perseverance, "Lopez sent a telegram with Jennifer Lynn Affleck's signature.
The pair traveled to Las Vegas on Saturday, stood in line with four other couples to get their license, and were married at the Little White Chapel, which has a drive-through "tunnel of love," according to Lopez. A Bluetooth speaker, according to Lopez, played their quick march down the aisle. She referred to it as their finest night ever.
If you wait long enough, Lopez added, "you may find the finest moment of your life in a drive-through in Las Vegas at 12:30 in the morning with your kids and the one you'll spend the rest of your life with."
The couple's marriage was announced for the first time on Sunday when the Clark County Clerk's office in Nevada revealed that their marriage license had been completed on Saturday. According to the marriage license application, Lopez intends to adopt the name, Jennifer Affleck.
Lopez and Affleck's representatives declined to respond.
The early 2000s relationship between Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, that gave rise to the moniker "Bennifer," was rekindled this year. They previously appeared together in the films Gigli (2003) and Jersey Girl (2004). They became engaged around that time, but they never got married.
In 2005, Affleck wed Jennifer Garner; they have three kids together. 2018 saw their divorce.
Lopez has previously been married three times. She had brief unions with Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003 and with Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998. After being married in 2004, she and singer Marc Anthony were wed for ten years and had twins who are now 14 years old.
