Ricky Martin Rejects Claims Of “Sexual & Romantic Relationship” With Nephew, Lawyer Says; Hearing Set In Puerto Rico Later This Month

Exclusive: Ricky Martin's lawyer stated on Friday that his client never had "any form of sexual or romantic contact with his nephew," despite the younger relative accusing him of domestic violence in Puerto Rico.

Martin's attorney Marty Singer told Deadline today: "Unfortunately, the person who made this accusation is battling with serious mental health difficulties." The Hollywood powerhouse attorney said, "Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any type of sexual or romantic connection with his nephew." "The premise is repulsive in addition to being false."

The singer stated, "We all pray that this man receives the care he so desperately needs. But more than anything, we eagerly anticipate the judge dismissing this terrible case as soon as he or she has a chance to review the evidence.

Following a rumored seven-month personal relationship with the 21-year-old nephew, Martin has lately become the target of a temporary restraining order as well as new allegations of abuse. On July 21, there will be a hearing in Puerto Rico regarding the accusations. If Martin is found guilty of the felony of domestic violence with a relative, he may face a sentence of over 50 years.

Martin, a Grammy winner and the star of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, battles an explosive $3 million lawsuit from his on-again, off-again manager Rebecca Drucker over unpaid commissions, these most recent claims from the unincorporated U.S. territory and the lawyer's response surface. Drucker and her Venable LLP team also claim that the plaintiff protected the allegedly drug-abusing "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer from a "possibly career-ending accusation in September 2020," likely to speed up the process.

Martin and his Lavely & Singer attorneys have mostly been mute on the subject since Drucker filed her case in Los Angeles Superior Court on June 29.

Martin will appear in Mrs. American Pie, a forthcoming comedy series on Apple TV+, alongside actors including Carol Burnett, Kristen Wiig, Josh Lucas, Allison Janney, and Leslie Bibb. Martin, though, apparently spent today in Los Angeles filming for the Abe Sylvia and Tate Taylor-directed series.

The singer's camp called the allegations of domestic violence "absolutely baseless and concocted" after the successful motion for a TRO against CAA-repped Martin was allowed by a Puerto Rican judge earlier this month. The domestic abuse prevention and intervention act, often known as island Law 54, was the basis for the restraining order petition.
