UPDATE: Evacuations underway as vegetation fire grows west of Anderson


4:15 p.m. UPDATE


The SHASCOM dispatch center lists these areas as under evacuation:


  • The area of La Colina Terrace at Beacon Drive.
  • Peter Pan Gulch Road at Olinda Road.
  • Streets between Peter Pan Gulch Road west to Twyla Road.


Firefighters from Redding claim to have deployed four units to assist in putting out the incident.


3:55 p.m. UPDATE


La Colina Terrace has been ordered to evacuate by the Shasta County Sheriff's Office due to the Peter Fire.


The sheriff's office posted an appeal to leave the area on Facebook. "Walmart in Anderson serves as a temporary public drop-off location."


It has been asked for a Hotshot crew.


West Valley High School is being used as an evacuation center.



3:25 p.m. UPDATE


Scanner reports state that the Peter Fire has scorched 50 acres. There have been evacuations.



3:15 p.m. UPDATE


According to firefighters, the Peter Fire has expanded to 20 to 30 acres. A structure there was destroyed by flames.



ORIGINAL STORY


Just west of Anderson, near the end of Peter Pan Gulch Road off of Olinda Road, firefighters are battling a 10-acre vegetation fire.


According to dispatch records from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the complaint was received shortly before 3 p.m.


A building fire, according to Cal Fire, spread to the vegetation. Multiple buildings are endangered by the moderately spreading Peter Fire, according to crews.
