In honor of India's 75th Independence Day, the government has declared that all monuments and sites managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will be open to the public for free from August 5 to 15.
Foreigners will not be charged an admission fee throughout the specified time period in addition to Indian nationals.
"As part of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' and 75th I-Day celebrations, @ASIGoI has offered entrance free for visitors/tourists to all its protected monuments/sites across the nation, from 5th-15th August 2022," tweeted Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy.

It is interesting to note that out of the more than 3,600 ASI-listed sites and monuments in the nation, 116 of them, dispersed across 19 states, have received tickets.
17 of these sites and monuments are located in Uttar Pradesh, 16 in Maharashtra, 12 in Karnataka, 10 in Delhi, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 6 in Gujarat, and 7 in Tamil Nadu, according to reports.

All of these magnificent structures and locations are essential to the history of India and represent our multicultural system and beliefs.
On Independence Day, a Swacchata campaign is also planned for 40 monuments. And as part of the elaborate Azadi Ka Mahotsav celebration, the following monuments will be illuminated:
- Agra Fort
- Akbar’s Tomb at Sikandra,
- Fatehpur Sikri
- Itmad-ud-daulah
There will be little exhibits in the Taj Mahal, Guru Ka Tal in Sikandra, and the Agra Fort.
