AMBER ALERT: Abducted 4-year-old Akron boy safe after father shoots mother, police say |
AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A 4-year-old kid from Akron who was reported missing on September 19 after his mother was reportedly shot by his father, who is described as "armed and highly dangerous," has had his Amber Alert revoked, according to Akron Police.
The infant was delivered to Akron detectives after the Amber Alert went out, according to Akron Police.
Police said that despite having arrest orders for him for kidnapping and felonious assault, his father is still at large.
According to the Amber Alert, the suspect is Jose Castro, 24, who is 5'9" and weighs 132 pounds, has black hair, and brown eyes.
He was last spotted in black shorts and a white T-shirt.
According to the Amber Alert, he was driving a 2016 silver Kia Soul with the Ohio license plate HLD 9706.
According to Akron Police, after receiving many reports reporting a lady shot, police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Tulip Street at 6:50 p.m. on September 19.
Police said that when they got on the scene, they discovered the unconscious woman outdoors with several gunshot wounds.
Officers spoke with witnesses while EMS was attending to the patient, and they said that the suspect had taken the victim's child, who is also his child, and driven off after the shooting.
According to police, they examined video from a nearby camera that showed the guy grabbing the youngster before hopping into the victim's car and driving off.
According to authorities, the person was transported in serious condition to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital.
