Nketiah's chance, Zinchenko injury worry, Nwaneri returns - Arsenal confirmed team vs Lyon

Today's match between Arsenal and Lyon marks the beginning of their midseason friendly. For the first time since departing at the end of the previous season, former striker Alexandre Lacazette will be reunited with several of his former teammates.

Gabriel Jesus, who will be his successor in the meantime, is still in London recovering from knee surgery. Eddie Nketiah, who has taken over as the line leader for the Gunners, has the chance to allay the concerns of the crowd.

The 23-year-goals old's in this midseason tournament will go a long way toward convincing fans that the number 14, who was given the jersey and a new contract in the summer, can step up to fill his slot if the Brazilian is out. His entire future with the club might be in jeopardy if he fails.

Nketiah has received assistance from Mikel Arteta and the other veteran players. Karl Hein makes his first appearance since making the error against Brighton in the cup.

The back line consists of Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Cedric Soares. Oleksandr Zinchenko is noticeably absent and not on the bench, raising concerns that he may be hurt. Mikel Arteta may provide further information after the game.

Behind Martin Odegaard, the midfield is composed primarily of Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny. Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira will assist Nketiah in the front three as they did against PSV.

Marquinhos is on a bench with younger players. Additionally, Ethan Nwaneri may make his first senior appearance since his historic Premier League debut cameo against Brentford.

Starting XI: Hein - Cedric - Holding - Gabriel - Tierney - Elneny - Lokonga - Nelson - Odegaard - Vieira - Nketiah.

Subs: Hillson - Foran - Walters - Sousa - Smith - Cirjan - Lewis-Skelly - Cozier-Duberry - Nwaneri - Marquinhos - Sagoe Jr - Butler-Oyedeji
