In response to an allegation of an active shooter, Wilkes Central High School was placed on lockdown earlier on Thursday morning, according to the Wilkes County School district.
There isn't a threat of an active shooter at the school, according to the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office and the school system. According to the district, the school entered lockdown right away and according to safety protocols.
After searching the school, law police reported that no threats were present. For the remainder of the school day, the school district said that there will be more law enforcement officers present as a precaution.
