Anita Pointer of The Pointer Sisters dies at 74


Anita Pointer, one of the four sisters who achieved fame as The Pointer Sisters, passed away on Saturday at the age of 74.


The Grammy winner passed suddenly while she was visiting family, according to her spokesperson. The reason for death wasn't made known right away.


The group's breakthrough song, "Yes We Can Can," was on their self-titled debut album from 1973. Between 1973 and 1985, The Pointer Sisters scored 13 U.S. top 20 hits and won three Grammy awards. The vocalists received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994. They are known for singles including "I'm So Excited," "Slow Hand," "Neutron Dance," and "Jump (For My Love).
