Trump claims that he will be arrested next week

Former President Donald Trump speaks at the Adler Theatre on March 13, in Davenport, Iowa. On his platform Truth Social on Saturday morning, Trump cited "illegal leaks" that he would be arrested Tuesday.

In a social media tweet, former president Donald Trump asserts that he would be detained the following week.

Although there has been no formal announcement of any intentions for an indictment, the accusation comes as a New York prosecutor contemplates pursuing Trump in connection with hush money paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Trump has been the subject of multiple criminal investigations, but the Daniels case is one that has been ongoing since 2016.

On Saturday morning, Trump said on his platform Truth Social that "illegal leaks" suggested he would be detained on Tuesday, and he then called for demonstrations.

Susan Necheles, Trump's attorney, told NPR that the president's supposition is "based on media stories" and that the prosecution should be held accountable for concealing material from Trump's legal team.

Necheles made the following statement: "Because this is a political prosecution, the District Attorney's office has engaged in a pattern of leaking everything to the press, rather than consulting with President Trump's counsel as would be done in a regular case.

Trump, who plans to run for president in 2024, defended himself on Truth Social and claimed that he had not broken any laws, though he did not say what he anticipated being charged with. He also said that the Manhattan District Attorney's Office was "corrupt & highly political," and that he has not committed any crimes.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office declined to comment on whether it will soon seek an arrest warrant for Trump.

In contrast, the Associated Press reported that law enforcement authorities in New York are debating security measures in anticipation of a possible indictment of Trump in the upcoming weeks.

Trump would become the first former president charged in American history if that happened.

Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump's campaign, said the former president plans to appear in Texas for a rally next weekend despite Trump's claims of an arrest warrant.
