Officially a heavyweight, Jon Jones. In the main event of Saturday's UFC 285, the former longtime light heavyweight champion will enter the Octagon to battle Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight belt.
After Francis Ngannou and the UFC split, the title became available, giving Jones the chance to compete for the championship in his debut match in the heavyweight division. Jones hasn't fought in more than three years, during which time he bulked up to the point where, during the weigh-in on Friday, he tipped the scales at 248 pounds.
In a prior match for the undisputed championship, Gane was defeated by Ngannou in January 2022. He bounced back from that defeat by knocking out Tai Tuivasa in the third round last September.
