On Monday morning inside a bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, a 23-year-old man with a rifle shot and murdered four other employees, according to the police. In the attack, nine additional people suffered injuries, three of them seriously. After exchanging gunfire on the site, the police shot and killed the suspect, who they claimed was live-streaming the shooting spree.
According to Paul Humphrey, the deputy chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department, shots were fired at the Old National Bank around 8:30 a.m. When police arrived on the scene, they "met the suspect nearly immediately, still firing firearms."
The shooter, whose identity was not immediately made public, was also confirmed dead at the scene, according to Chief Humphrey. He remarked, "At this point, we do not really know the circumstances of his demise.
The shooter may have been a current or former employee of the bank, according to the police, who did not provide a motive for the incident. At a news conference, Chief Humphrey stated, "We believe this is a lone gunman involved in this who did have a relationship to the bank."
According to the deputy chief, four individuals were killed inside the bank, and eight people, including a police officer, were brought to a local hospital. He stated that two persons, including a police officer who underwent surgery on Monday morning, were in critical condition.
At this moment, the public is not aware of any active danger, according to Chief Humphrey.

According to a spokeswoman, Heather Fountaine, nine people from the shooting—including two police officers—were treated at the University of Louisville Hospital. She claimed that by early Monday afternoon, at least three of the patients had been released.
On Monday, James Ryan, the chairman, and CEO of Old National Bank, accompanied other officials to the facility in Louisville.
“The safety of Old National Bank employees and everyone we serve in our banking center locations is paramount,” Mr. Ryan said in a statement posted on Facebook. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear visited the shooting scene and was visibly upset during the Monday morning press conference.
It's terrible, he remarked. "One of my closest friends passed away today. In addition, I have a close buddy who I thought would survive and who is currently in the hospital but didn't. So I hope people will pray when we talk about it.
The governor claimed to have known "nearly everyone" inside the bank building where he had run his attorney general campaign. "That's my bank," he said.
