Nasser Kanaani, a spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry, claims that the United States' plan to send a submarine to the area is an effort to hide American decline.
After recent tensions in Syria and rocket assaults on Israel, the US Navy on Saturday announced the deployment of a guided-missile submarine capable of carrying up to 154 Tomahawk missiles to the Middle East. This move may have been intended to send a message to Iran.
Nasser Kanaani tweeted Sunday that "frequent announcements about sending submarines, rotating battleships, or dispatching bombers to West Asia is part of the US government's struggle to cover up the trend of its decreasing global dominance."
As Kanaani spoke of "new regional events" and a "new order," he referred to Iran's restoration of diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia and an apparent agreement to seek peace in Yemen.
Iranian regime officials and its ideological leaders have made the most of the deal's status as a strategic setback for the United States because Riyadh accepted it under China's guidance rather than Washington's.
Nonetheless, the Saudis are cautiously carrying out their security and diplomatic objectives in repairing ties with Tehran to stabilize Yemen. Saudi Arabia and Oman sent a group to Yemen to conduct peace talks with the Houthis at the same time that Riyadh dispatched a team to Iran over the weekend to investigate the technical issues of reopening its diplomatic missions. The Yemeni rebel movement has entirely shifted its tone after the Saudi-Iranian agreement, supporting regional reconciliation and speaking of an "honorable peace."
Nonetheless, citing the Chinese-sponsored accord with Saudi Arabia, Iranian hardliners are praising Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's "wisdom" in foretelling the end of the American world order.
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who according to Kayhan warned the US Congress in 2011 to be aware of Iran's might, Iran "has a distinctive and unquestionable position in the new world order," the ultra-hardline Kayhan newspaper in Tehran, which is funded by Khamenei, claimed Monday.
Of course, Kayhan slightly misquoted Netanyahu, who was actually warning about Iran's nuclear program and not discussing a new world order. The Israeli PM told Congress: "When I last stood here, I spoke of the consequences of Iran developing nuclear weapons. Now, the clock is ticking. The greatest threat of all could soon be upon us, and history may soon turn on its axis.
In response, Kayhan said that since Netanyahu's speech, "Iran's enemies headed by the United States have repeatedly sought to block the development of a new world order" and orchestrated a number of coup attempts.
Regarding Iran's regional proxies, Kayhan asserted that the "resistance front" is triumphant throughout West Asia. It even went so far as to say that the West had lost the fight in Ukraine.
The conservative publication also criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for his recent trip to China, where he urged Europe to remain independent of the United States on the Taiwan issue.
All of these indications, according to Kayhan, point to the rise of a new world order against the wishes of the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and "the Zionist regime," but they ignore the fact that Iran has been the region's most destabilizing factor in recent memory, potentially provoking a war between numerous countries and continents.
