There are advantages to being born to renowned parents. Yet, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger wished to instill empathy in their offspring. Hence, the four Schwarzenegger kids grew up understanding the value of accountability and self-reliance. Patrick Schwarzenegger, the eldest son of Schwarzenegger and Shriver, was conscious of the impact of his family name when he decided to pursue acting. The 29-year-old did not, however, use his father's fame to seek quick entry into Hollywood.
On The Squeeze podcast on YouTube on April 12, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver made appearances. Maria Shriver spoke about her son's acting career. During an interview with presenters Taylor Lautner and his wife, Taylor Dome, Shriver asked why she is proud of her kid.
Not taking the easy way out
Shriver told the hosts, "What I appreciate and adore about Patrick is how hard he's worked at his acting path. The 29-year-old also "goes to class every week," according to Shriver, just like his father, who used to attend acting courses while working in construction and bodybuilding. The well-known journalist respected her son's tenacity and work ethic as well.
While many individuals may respond, "Oh! That wasn't the reason you got it—you got it because your name is this. He has produced indie films... goes on trial runs. He accepts criticism and... he works to improve, said Arnold Schwarzenegger's ex-wife. Patrick Schwarzenegger found motivation in his father's early hardships rather than depending on his advantages.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, a seven-time Mr. Olympia, earned a Golden Globe in 1977, but it wasn't until 1982 that he appeared in his first big-budget success, Conan the Barbarian. According to Maria Shriver, the Staircase actor was "adamant about forging his own path in this industry, creating his own contacts, and having his own team." Moreover, Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsed his son's choice to go out on his own.

Patrick Schwarzenegger spoke about his father's support for his acting career in a 2018 interview with Cosmopolitan. Arnie advised his kid to "Never listen to the critics," just like his mother had done. Also, Schwarzenegger informed his 29-year-old son that perseverance and hard effort were indispensable.
In the interview with Cosmopolitan, Patrick Schwarzenegger also discussed stepping out of his father's shadow. The Midnight Sun actor admitted that he didn't want to be known as "simply his (Arnold Schwarzenegger) son" in his work, but rather to speak for himself.
